though i only saw him play for a couple of seasons for the wire,i have to agree with the majority of the posts on this thread......d/d is the hardest pound for pound player i have ever seen there was no arguments or f./';ing about with dessie it was wallop youve been nutted!.....

i remember seeing him play against saints at knowsley rd in 1990.(i was 17).dessie had the ball on the wing,went down the line and was tackled.

Initially by one player,not held,two players,not held,three players....eventually four saints players had him face down arm/leg each above their heads.

they were about to fling him to the ground when another unfortunate saints player came to join the melee head on with des......splat the best "FLYING" headbutt i have ever seen!(out cold)
