The Widnes incident led to him being dropped from the GB squad to tour Australia in 1988. He was all set to go but was dropped as the court case was still pending, that's why we got to see Henderson Gill doing "a bit of a boogie".
Dessie played in some of my all time favourite Wire sides, seeing him support breaks from the likes of Woods, Blake, Roberts, Ropati, Jackson and so on got the crowd on their feet every time.
Don't forget the evening game at Knowsley Road when a young superstar called Gary Connolly was playing at Full back - Dessie skinned him twice for tries from halfway on the way to a rare away victory at Saints and showed the young boy he still had a lot to learn.
Sheer class!!!!
