Both of the Drake twins Jim and Bill are still
alive, the other brother
who also played is still with us aswell. All three are well
into there 70's
now, Jim lives in Hull, Bill and Joe live in York.
Jim signed for Hull FC from York amateur club Heworth,he was
an old
school tank of a prop with an aggresive approach which soon
made him one of
the most feared forwards in the game. He became one of the cornerstones
for the
mighty Hull pack in 1956/58.
In 1958 he gained selection for the Great Britain Australasian
tour through his tremendous power play. Only to
withdraw due to a cartilage injury, caused in a tackle by the
man that replaced him on the tour, Brian Mctigue.
After 10 years with Hull FC he moved to Hull KR to finish his
career retiring in 1965.
