Title: ... (p26) 1959 Tour - Noel Kelly treated by Widnes Physio Frank Tobin

Another Great Memory from Former Senior Referee Ronnie Campbell of Widnes

(The 1959 Aussie tour) Widnes had a physio then one of the first in our league.

His name was Frank Tobin he was there for years and years. He had a clinic on Sunday mornings at the ground followed by a drink in the local pub on the corner next to the club (still there )

I was in the pub when Frank strolled in with Noël Kelly, he'd been treating him ( no physio with Aussies then !) Brian Clay was with him too.

I thought Christ twice in a week (see other article posted above)

I'm in the right place !

Noel just took over the pub telling tales. I became a big admire of him and always was !!

That pub is the Cricketers Arms and is still there right on the corner of Widnes Rugby car park !

Frank Tobin was a legend over here Quigs he was larger than life and any amateur player could go along to his clinic on Sundays free no appointment needed.

He was also the physio for the British Open golf championship every year.
