I remember the fight big time I was 22 and all I cared about was seeing KT waste
Greg Dowling because he was Australian.
Back then you only got to see
everything of the fight from the field to the side line. I thought thats all
that happend but I learnt later on that the fight carried on inside the tunnel.
As far as I know KT won the fight but I am sure there were bruises on both
players.
Rugby League was just that back then and KT was known as having a bit
of mongrel which Kiwis loved.
Rugby League today is awesome but the Warriors
could take a leaf out of this era. I dont see League played like they did back
then in todays game it was true warrior spirit on both teams.
I respect Kiwi
and Aussie League Greg Dowling and KT were tough players man and all those guys
back then Im sure its water under the bridge now though.
They went out to play
the game not just as a team but brothers on a national front too, awesome
history.
I dont even know who won the game but I will never forget that fight
it was true do or die.
There are probably other fights in club games too but
when League was played back then it was dynamic.
I wonder if they ever shook
hands ?
