St Helens ... Greatest Clubman Nominations / Stories

From Stooby Doo . from Virtual Terraces Rugby League Forum

For Saints, I would say Chris Joynt.

Started his career with Oldham but was signed as a youngster back in '92 and retired last season.

Saints most successful captain, nuff said.

From The Chair Maker. from Virtual Terraces Rugby League Forum

For Saints you have to go for Kel Coslett who holds Saints appearances record with 519 +12 sub appearances and who scored 3413 points at the club.

Kel is such a fixture that he still works for Saints. .

From BD92. from TotalRL Rugby League Forum

What about Geoff Pimblett and Kel Coslett at saints. Not to mention Eric Ashton and his involvement over the years.

From Jack, St Helens.

Kel Coslett, was the Welsh RU International
full back, signed for The Saints in 1961/1976. brilliant goalkicker,
tough tackling rawboned youngster. Through a broken ankle lost his pace,
ended up a utility player, played in every position for his club 1 to 13.
Over 500 appearances, was coach, (went on to coach Wigan and Rochdale
Hornets) is still involved at the club 44 years after first signing.

John Saunders, St Helens (28-4-2005)

Phil Veivers, He came over with Meninga, played
in every position for Saints and never once let them down.

"I posted a thread on several Rugby League Forums in the UK and Australia and above are some of the responses. No major correspondence will be entered into but further comments are always welcome. Where there has been a detailed response then I will link it to another page for the convienience of reading it at your leisure. Of course this blockhead is not familiar with clubs from the northern hemisphere so I have relied on the goodwill of those submitting comments" - Quigs.
