Newtown Player Profile

Bumper Farrell is Newtown. A more loyal footballer never strapped on a pair of boots. He played all of his senior league games with the Bluebags, a total of 250. He led his team to victory over North Sydney in 1943. He retired in 1951.

The tougher the game, the more he relished it....In 1945 Farrell was accused of almost biting off St George player Bill McRitchie's ear. It took 7 months for the League to finalise their inquiry. Farrell was found not guilty - McRitchie was in Hospital for 22 weeks having his ear fixed.
